Bug 509182 – media-gfx/gnome-photos-3.10.2 can't find any pictures and says "no photos" all the time

How is gnome-photos supposed to find photos on your computer? Tracker has them in its database, I can search for them without any problems. Also I put some pics into my home folder just to see if they would be picked by gnome-photos but it still says "no photos". I suspect that something might be broken in Gentoo version.

It worked when I added it to the tree long ago and 3.12 works just fine as well.

Could you start it from a terminal and report its output ?

3.12 works ok.
