You can configure what you want in /etc/nail.rc or ~/.mailrc looks like none of them is used. I want to use "set MBOX=~/.maildir" but this does not work. If I use mail -f ~/.maildir it works. Maybe there is something wrong with the defaults while the configure process at build time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. change some param in /etc/nail.rc or in ~/.mailrc 2. open a new shell 3. run mail Actual Results: none of the mails in ~/.maildir are found. It tells i.e. "No mail for root". Expected Results: If you use "mail -f ~/.maildir" the mails are found: mail -f ~/.maildir Heirloom mailx version 12.4 7/29/08. Type ? for help. "/root/.maildir": 1 message 1 unread >U 1 root Wed Apr 23 10:07 17/531 test
