Kernel is 3.14.1 Something in my stomach makes me suspect baloo. How big is your home directory (du -sh .)? What filesystem does it live on? Home directory is 164G, ext4. I saw that semantic desktop was disabled by default in System Settings but there were still some baloo proccesses in htop. By a clean home directory in comment #1 I meant that I deleted all the .* files and directories except for some apps (Firefox, Chromium, Konversation, Trojita, Psi, mc, EiskaltDC++, Calibre, KeePassX, mkvtoolnix, qBittorrent) to keep the settings. If I login as a user who owns a completely clean home, seems like I can't reproduce the problem. As for proccesses list, this one always exists in the former case but not with the latter: rondo 4267 15.6 0.8 424284 131872 ? DN 03:01 0:04 /usr/bin/baloo_file_extractor 5141 5140 5139 5138 5137 5136 5135 5134 5133 5132 5131 5130 5129 5128 5127 5126 5125 5124 5123 5122 5121 5120 5119 5118 5117 5116 5115 5114 5113 5112 5111 5110 5109 5108 5107 5106 5105 5104 5103 5102 And I checked again — Semantic desktop is disabled. How can I isolate myself from this indexing? A workaround for now in ~/.kde4/share/config/baloofilerc: [Basic Settings] Indexing-Enabled=false No freezes this way. Other way is to blacklist home dir in "Desktop Search" kcm. KDE SC 4.13.1 is now in tree available. Please test. (In reply to Johannes Huber from comment #7) > KDE SC 4.13.1 is now in tree available. Please test. KDE SC 4.13.3 is in tree since yesterday. Please test. |
