That doesn't look like a build log.

Sorry about that. Here it is.
I can confirm this bug, also, once world is emerged with sys-libs/ncurses +tinfo it's a mess to go back (libtinfo is linked by bash). (In reply to Francesco Riosa from comment #4) FEATURES="preserve-libs" should make that easier than without it. (In reply to Mike Gilbert from comment #5) > (In reply to Francesco Riosa from comment #4) > > FEATURES="preserve-libs" should make that easier than without it. yep you're right it's disabled on my build host, but no, not so much easier to get rid of it. tinfo is an automagic dependancy for bash (and vim at least I think), so the point were the libtinfo.so* files get removed is not at next rebuild of bash. trick has been to copy /usr/lib64/libtinfo.so.5.9 from a working system to /usr/lib64/libtinfo.so.5 (notice the missing .9) then rebuild, without libtinfo.so (no version) the automagic dep are not triggered. (In reply to Francesco Riosa from comment #6) > tinfo is an automagic dependancy for bash (and vim at least I think), so the > point were the libtinfo.so* files get removed is not at next rebuild of bash. That sounds bug-worthy. ^_^ (In reply to Francesco Riosa from comment #6) > trick has been to copy /usr/lib64/libtinfo.so.5.9 from a working system to > /usr/lib64/libtinfo.so.5 (notice the missing .9) then rebuild, without > libtinfo.so (no version) the automagic dep are not triggered. preserve-libs does not save the .so symlink; it only keeps the soname file. with the masked dev-python/pypy-2.2.1 i didn't have any problem about installing it with USE=ncurses with sys-libs/ncurses[tinfo] (In reply to Mike Gilbert from comment #7) > (In reply to Francesco Riosa from comment #6) > > tinfo is an automagic dependancy for bash (and vim at least I think), so the > > point were the libtinfo.so* files get removed is not at next rebuild of bash. > > That sounds bug-worthy. ^_^ don't think the thing has a solution, it's actually always depending on ncurses, that's the reason developers did nasty things in `configure`, if I'll be able to think at on I'll open one. anyway sorry everyone for bugspam, this derailed :p *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 482330 *** |
