Bug 505328 – gnome-base/gnome-shell-3.10.4-r1 black background wallpaper on login

After updating gnome-shell to 3.10.4-r1 (from 3.10.4) I started to get a black background after logging in to my user account. I can see the correct background image in the individual virtual desktops in the shell overview (after hitting the Super key), but the main desktop background remains black. Logging off and back on sometimes fixes the issue.

Downgrading to gnome-shell-3.10.4 fixes the issue (no black background after many logins). I've further narrowed the problem to this patch that was added in 3.10.4-r1:

Undoing this patch fixes the issue as well. Graphics card is nVidia GTX 570 with nvidia-drivers-334.21-r1.

You will probably need to contact to upstream about this -> bugzilla.gnome.org

Please specify your setup as I don't suffer this problem neither with intel neither with the nvidia setups I tried

Actually I see it with BOTH intel and nvidia setups. The reason why I thought it would be appropriate as a Gentoo bug is because it looks like we just pick one patch out of 3.11.x and maybe the breakage is due to missing other patches that are needed by the one we picked.
