@Rolf As i know that you are very active at upstream work, do you have an idea or a commit where it is maybe fixed? Have you tried files/cmake-2.8.12.2-hppa-bootstrap.patch? I must also note that it fails on a C3650 with 2 GB RAM, whereas I see no issues on a C8000 with 8 GB RAM. It's entirely plausible that ld simply runs out of RAM (but I cannot test that).
