Bug 50443

Summary: No APM support in gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.5-r1
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: drumz <paul>
Component: [OLD] Core systemAssignee: x86-kernel (DEPRECATED) <x86-kernel>
Status: RESOLVED UPSTREAM
Severity: normal
Priority: High
Version: 2004.0
Hardware: All
OS: Linux

Runtime testing required: ---

Description drumz 2004-05-08 04:51:48 UTC
My motherboard requires the use of APM. Enabling ACPI kill my video. 'make menuconfig' does not allow user to enable APM support even though the source code is in the kernel source tree.

Under power management configuration menu there is support for ACPI only.

Platform is AMD64.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Intall kernel
2.make menuconfig or genkernel all with menuconfig
3.

Actual Results:
Unable to enable APM support in the kernel because it is missing in the
configuration menus.

Expected Results:
APM should be displayed under the power management menu structure in
menuconfig/xconfig etc. Right now only support for ACPI is available.

upstream problem, apm support hasn't been ported to x86_64

Thanks, I (and probably a bunch of others) appreciate it. In the meantime I'll try playing with what little ACPI BIOS settings I have to see if I can get around the video killing issue.

Ok, I've had no luck playing with the ACPI BIOS settings, and I am running the latest/greatest BIOS.

So any word on APM support yet?
