I've downloaded the stage 1 tarballs from several sites and it seems that the tarballs don't pass the md5sum check. Stage 3 seems to work. I wonder if this might be the root of the problem I reported in bug #49937. 

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.download a stage 1 tarball from a mirror (I tried 4)
2. run md5sum on the tarball
Actual Results:  
get an error.

Expected Results:  
Should pass the check

Well I'm an idiot and was mistyping, this actually works just fine. I suppose this should be closed.
