Can you please try again with --debug so we can see the optimization and link flags, and also the output of gcc --version would be nice as well. Thanks! Note that this "bug" is not specific to the db package, but would very likely occur with lots of packages, assuming that I am correct in my educated guess that it is a compiler flag. My apoligies for not including the gcc ver. It looks like it cleared up. I think I might have had an error during bootstrap that was not focused. Before seeing your update I did an emerge --clean rsync and bootstrapped again. Now emerge system is running without stopping on the same error. It is going right now :) Thank you. has to do with setting an arch when merging binutils... binutils gets really upity when it is compiled with -march= anything interesting. I am closing this bug report as it would appear that either a) the problem is resolved b) there was not a problem that was not a result of configuration error If these statements are in error, please re-open the bug and explain why.
