Baselayout merge keeps failing here b/c it assumes /boot to be writeable. Even if I remountet boot rw, qmerge would still fail b/c my boot partition is FAT and therefore a self-referencing /boot symbolic link won't work there.

Does this symbolic link do something useful other than helping with misconfigured grubs? Is it necessary?

Fixed in baselayout-1.8.12 without a version/revision bump.  Thanks.
