We have this nice package cd.

What If more packages are added (that means: a set of maybe 8 cd's which mirror a compiled portage three. So one could use gentoo as a Debian or Red Heat distribution on slower machines too, with the advantage that gentoo which is lots faster than other distros.

can one tell portage to use some packages on a different path (like /mnt/cdrom) and when the package is not found in this folder let portage say that one should change the cd?

Would be easy to implement.

This is considered useful for months now, but at the momnent we don't have capable ressources for this.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.

I guess it can be considered as FIXED.

Took a long time from 2004-05-05 08:01  o Dec 2023-29-12.2

but a fix was provided at last. I am happy that it got resolved. The distribution of binary packages has the potential to expand gentoo on numerous platforms and much more computers.
