As of 2014.0.1.26 libusbx no longer developed and all code merged back into libusb. virtual/libusb supposed to change to dev-libs/libusb instead dev-libs/libusbx.

yes, that's why we have libusb-1.0.18 and libusbx-1.0.18 in Portage which are identical.

no, not yet, only after stabilization of 1.0.18 or otherwise the virtual/ switch will change current stable users from libusbx-1.0.17 to libusb-1.0.9

no need for this bug... but thanks for reporting... threating as normal version bump request...
