This one has me stumped.  I frequently update gentoo (pretty much daily) to always have the newest packages.  I have both X.org X11 server and I keep a copy of the FreeDesktop Xserver laying around as well.  I am running the newest version of X.org (6.7.0) from the gentoo ebuild and I haven't upgraded or recompiled either of my xservers in some time.

I noticed yesterday that I couldn't start up new programs anymore.  It started with the gimp and then I realized it was any program that didn't run through kdeinit that wouldn't start.  I wanted to test stuff out so I logged out and restarted X with kdm.  Only it didn't start, I get a bunch of _X11TransOpen: Unable to find transport for local.  I also can no long start fdo's Xserver which fails with similar errors.  So I can only assume something I have emerge recently screwed up tcp networking somehow.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you upgraded your libX11 from freedesktop.org lately? It's broken.

Ya, your right, it is definitly broken.. once I removed /opt/fdo/lib from the ld.so.conf it all worked again.
