Hi,

the stage3 tarball (eg. stage3-amd64-20131226.tar.bz2) does not have "bc" included, so a kernel compile fails because of this:

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. extract stage3 tarball, add resolv.conv, adjust make.conf, setup networking
2. USE=symlink emerge gentoo-sources
3. cd /usr/src/linux; make *config; make -j3 bzImage modules

(I have special CFLAGS but I think they're irrelevant here.)
Actual Results:  
make stops with error "bc not found"

Expected Results:  
make compiles kernel and modules

"unknown repository" is a very old (+5 years) install of gentoo with a partially completed "emerge -1vv --backtrack=30 portage gettext readline e2fsprogs util-linux expat sysvinit". Due to a partial emerge (it stopped in "Emerging (13 of 22) dev-lang/python-3.3.2-r2 for /mnt/gentoo/" with a "copying build/lib.linux-x86_64-3.3/ossaudiodev.cpython-33.so -> /var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-3.3.2-r2/image//usr/lib64/python3.3/lib-dynload // error: Function not implemented" and in the end " * ERROR: dev-lang/python-3.3.2-r2::gentoo failed (install phase): // *   emake altinstall failed") that system has a mix of current and old packages installed...
