Bug 497968 – dev-lang/php:{5.4,5.5} contains incorrect/incomplete php.ini (missed date.timezone value)

On my system I have installed
$ eix -Ie php

     Installed versions:  5.4.23(5.4) … 5.5.7(5.5)(10:01:04 13.01.2014)

etc-update utility suggests the sollowing config update (listed for apache-5.4, but the same for cli and 5.5):

But for rather long time ago (AFAIR since 5.3) dev-lang/php strictly recommends not to use system data, but to set timezone in php.ini.
So, I have to preform manual update of php.ini.

It would be fine, if portage will auto-fit system value of timezone (i.e from /etc/timezone) into source php.ini (as result skipping quoted update).

We just ship the default upstream config. We cannot make any assumptions whether you want php time to be like system time or anything else.
