As a quick workaround until some gentoo dev puts this into the tree:

cd /usr/portage/app-emulation/vmware-player
cp vmware-player-6.0.0.1295980.ebuild vmware-player-6.0.1.1379776.ebuild
ebuild vmware-player-6.0.1.1379776.ebuild digest

of course using an overlay may be wiser or just redo this after every emerge --sync until official ebuild is in tree.
