and if it works, can you remove the '!mips?' and 'if ! use mips; then ... ' stuff from media-sound/vorbis-tools-1.0.1? Thanks.

Both media-libs/speex and media-sound/vorbis-tools are marked stable on mips. (have been for some time now I'm guessing) I'm just compiling speex now, I'll look into removing the dependancy mask present in vorbis-tools once that's done.

speex worked fine last time I tried it... however, vorbis-tools was not linking against libspeex properly -- a problem I reproduced at the time on x86. I believe the problem has been fixed now, and I shall give it a try shortly.
