These are upstream builds - there is nothing Gentoo maintainers can do about that. Also it's a bit more complicated. There's something in the works, but both the porting isn't trivial and mozilla upstream seems to make it harder than it should be (and testing how much can they postpone it). I didn't realize FF did not yet support 1.0. Once the support is in, I wouldn't see any reason why there couldn't be compiled a binary which links against the specific version of GST in portage (other than the firefox-bin upstream not specifically being compiled for gentoo?)... Thanks for the information either way! Well, going by the upstream bug, it's done...for firefox 30. Given gstreamer herd take on 0.10 (as could be seen in bug 493176), any chance of an early backport ? Unless mozilla upstream has broken something during porting, it might be a good idea to get things running early. Since this hasn't actually been made clear yet in the earlier comments: www-client/firefox has used gstreamer:1.0 by default since firefox-31 with USE+"gstreamer" (recently we now also offer the option of gstreamer:0.10 again too). However, www-client/firefox-bin is still 0:10 and although there is a push for it to change to 1.0 it hasn't happened yet. So if you want gstreamer:1.0 , emerge www-client/firefox[gstreamer]; if you want to use firefox-bin, emerge gst-plugins-meta:0.10[ffmpeg] |
