Description Nikos Chantziaras 2013-11-23 15:51:14 UTC
For last week or so, every time I run a world update, I always get this:

WARNING: One or more updates have been skipped due to a dependency conflict:

dev-util/mdds:0

(dev-util/mdds-0.9.1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) conflicts with
=dev-util/mdds-0.8*:= required by (app-office/libreoffice-4.1.3.2::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)

Why am I being shown this information? mdds is not in my world file, and thus I really couldn't care less about the version of it. It's just some random dependency of something else.

Because people usually get angry when updates are silently skipped. I guess one can't please everyone here.
Comment 2 Nikos Chantziaras 2013-11-24 20:25:10 UTC
Oh, OK. I thought this is a bug, actually.

Is this really by design? If yes, I will close this as INVALID.
Comment 3 Sebastian Luther (few) 2013-11-25 07:31:06 UTC
Yes it's by design. This message exists for years and this is the first time someone complains that it exists. On the contrary, there were quite some complaints when it didn't.
