Looks like some sort of variable indirection programming error to me, with @baseconfigdir@ being interpreted literally rather than resolved to its value (presumably "/etc/fonts"). The directory is dated 10 November on my system, with the contents having been modified when I ran an emerge -e world a couple of days ago, so this probably relates to a change that predates 10 November.
