Bug 490152 – media-video/totem - GNOME doesn't recognize DVD video discs

Videos isn't started nor does Videos manually started recognize the DVD in the drive (/dev/sr0).

totem dvd:// from the command line only works after creating /dev/dvd symlink:

ln -s /dev/sr0 /dev/dvd

Without symlink:

What totem and gvfs versions are you running? What udev/systemd versions?

totem: 3.8.2-r1
gvfs: 1.16.3
sys-fs/udev: [ Not Installed ]

I would report to upstream (bugzilla.gnome.org) as the symlink was dropped from udev/systemd on purpose... but I am unsure if you are hitting:

Same problem here. 

Earlier version of Totem (before 3.8.2) used to show a "Play disc" menu item under Video or Movie. 

Now one must go to Open Location and type something like file:///dev/sr0 to play a DVD.

FTR, it works just fine for me with totem-3.10.

Please retry with 3.10
