Description Nikoli 2013-10-29 15:21:30 UTC
Tried rebuilding dev-libs/gmp-5.1.2 with USE pgo in several systems, but none of installed files changed. emerge did not fail or show any warning. I think these changes are terribly wrong:
http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/dev-libs/gmp/gmp-5.1.2.ebuild?r1=1.1&r2=1.2
They lead to not predictable, not reproducible, inconsistent and just random behaviour of ebuild. Most users will never notice that USE pgo is no-op, because when it fails it even does not show ewarn.

Please revert these changes and mask USE pgo for gmp package until it is fixed.

raging against the machine won't fix the problem. if you're really interested, investigate the source code and find out why it's failing.
