Same here, until I tried with USE="ipv6". Then it installed as expected. I confirm what Neil said: it works with USE="ipv6". But I don't need IPv6 support on my system... Upstream bug tracker has a fix: http://redmine.lighttpd.net/issues/2515 I can confirm that placing that patch in /etc/portage/patches/www-servers/lighttpd-1.4.33 results in successful installation with USE="-ipv6" Lets wait for upstream to apply the patch and then we can apply it as well. (In reply to Markos Chandras from comment #5) > Lets wait for upstream to apply the patch and then we can apply it as well. Now upstream has applied the patch http://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/lighttpd/repository/revisions/2911 Thanks for the update. It's now fixed in the portage tree as well + 16 Oct 2013; Markos Chandras <hwoarang@gentoo.org> + +files/lighttpd-1.4.33-fix-ipv6-build.patch, lighttpd-1.4.33.ebuild: + Add upstream patch to restore build for USE=-ipv6.
