 *   CONFIG_DRM must be disabled or compiled as a module and not loaded for direct
 *      rendering to work.

But on a hybrid laptop system, in order to get Intel driver to work, CONFIG_DRM is seemed to be necessary.  Building it into kernel works fine for me.  I think ati-driver only conflicts with RADEON driver.

x11-drivers/ati-drivers has been removed, per bug 582406.
