What locale are you using? I noted that I was still using the POSIX locale due to systemd bug 465468. I now have LANG="en_US.UTF-8" in my /etc/env.d/02locale file and the "locale" command reports: LANG=en_US.utf8 LC_CTYPE="en_US.utf8" LC_NUMERIC=en_US.utf8 LC_TIME=en_US.utf8 LC_COLLATE="en_US.utf8" LC_MONETARY=en_US.utf8 LC_MESSAGES="en_US.utf8" LC_PAPER=en_US.utf8 LC_NAME="en_US.utf8" LC_ADDRESS="en_US.utf8" LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.utf8" LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.utf8 LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.utf8" So I tried re-emerging rhythmbox, but I still get the following error message: * *** Error compiling '/usr/lib64/rhythmbox/plugins/im-status/im-status.py'... * File "/usr/lib64/rhythmbox/plugins/im-status/im-status.py", line 171 * new_status = _(u"♫ %(artist)s - %(title)s ♫") % subs * ^ * SyntaxError: invalid syntax * * *** Error compiling '/usr/lib64/rhythmbox/plugins/lyrics/TerraParser.py'... * File "/usr/lib64/rhythmbox/plugins/lyrics/TerraParser.py", line 43 * if text[0] == u'#': * ^ * SyntaxError: invalid syntax The only difference is the ♫ symbol instead of the u266b string. ebuild in the tree is using new eclasses that don't have any of that "optimization" stuff, the ebuild is neither calling it |
