Description steven.f.white 2004-04-19 10:18:48 UTC
Using universal universal liveCD stage3 tarball for pentium3 and portage snapshot
from CD to install a system. Get ERROR 404: Not found returned and indeed the
specified file is not present on the mirror. Checked a few different mirrors, and
find 0.6r8 and 0.6r10, but no 0.6r9. Assuming I can upload a text file using
links2, I will attach the redirected output when the opportunity arises.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. tar -xvjpf /mnt/cdrom/stages/stage3-pentium3-20040218.tar.bz2
2. tar -xvjf /mnt/cdrom/snapshots/portage-20040223.tar.bz2 -C /mnt/gentoo/usr
3. cp /mnt/cdrom/distfiles/* /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles/
4. emerge genkernel (only pertinent steps indicating choices included above)
Actual Results:
Error and abort

Expected Results:
Return to a root prompt without an error in preparation for genkernel all

Not a livecd-bug -- reassigning to bug-wranglers
Comment 4 Michal Januszewski (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-23 08:35:36 UTC
This should probably be updated to a newer version of bootsplash (-r14 or so). The tarballs are in my devspace, have a look at the bootsplash ebuilds for the exact links. Reassinging to genkernel, as this is something for them to deal with.
Comment 5 Tim Yamin (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-23 08:38:13 UTC
I don't handle bootsplash; so this version bump request for bootsplash is going back to the wranglers...

finaly fixed QA issue
please use mirror://gentoo primary, instead of just dev.g.o
