what version libwwperl is used? I tried with dev-perl/libwww-perl-6.30.0, dev-perl/libwww-perl-6.40.0 and dev-perl/libwww-perl-6.50.0. Perl version is dev-lang/perl-5.12.4-r1. Hmm, gimme a sec.

why? I strongly believe, that you should use IO::Handle instead, and i think all will work.
AFAIK IO::File does not implement flush method.
