Description BobbyK 2013-08-21 01:30:17 UTC
The radeon specific wiki page http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Radeon identifies firmwares that are needed with newer kernels (3.9+), namely UVDs and SMCs (needed in kernels 3.11+). The Xorg Configuration wiki page does not reference these same firmwares, and without an appropriate UVD boot may pause for about a minute (which lead me to suspect it had hung when first testing 3.9.11-r1).

Bug filed at the request of TomWij in #gentoo:

<TomWij> bpkent: Also feel free to file a bug to get that page on the wiki updated.

Is b.g.o not the right place to record issues with Gentoo documentation on w.g.o? If not, what is?

Err, sorry, my bad, the component states that it is not for changes for existing articles; I saw another bug that asked something similar, which made me do a wrong assumption, but I have closed that one as well now.

Please raise this on the discussion page of the existing article.
