so...... I retested and didn't see the problem... So here's what I really stumbled into... I used the memtest86+ from a ubuntu live CD to try on my gentoo box. This one suffered from the problem. So, it's not clear if this defect should be rejected or if some good can come of it. I'll let the memtest86+ maintainer decide. thanx for reading :) Current status: I have a memtest86+ version running on my gentoo computer which was installed in my gentoo boot partition. I'm happier than I once was :) if the Gentoo memtest is failing, then we can look into it. but if only the Ubuntu binary is the one failing, there isn't much we can do about it. |
