I have memtest86+ 4.20-r1 installed. I ran the test on my computer and test 7 failed.. I recently stumbled into this test failing on another computer. I thought this seemed ironic, so I did some online searching and found that there is a glitch with test 7: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/memtest86+/+bug/1071209

One thing that confuses me was that this wasn't supposed to be a problem for gcc's earlier than 4.7...  However, I did see it.
I thought I read that there is a patch for it. And that there's a newer beta version of memtest86+ out there (version 5)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Run memtest86+ test 7. 
Actual Results:  
It will show thousands of errors.

Expected Results:  
no errors with good memory.

so...... I retested and didn't see the problem... So here's what I really stumbled into... I used the memtest86+ from a ubuntu live CD to try on my gentoo box. This one suffered from the problem.



So, it's not clear if this defect should be rejected or if some good can come of it. I'll let the memtest86+ maintainer decide.

Current status:
I have a memtest86+ version running on my gentoo computer which was installed in my gentoo boot partition. I'm happier than I once was :)

if the Gentoo memtest is failing, then we can look into it.  but if only the Ubuntu binary is the one failing, there isn't much we can do about it.
