I've tried troubleshooting this myself, but can't find any solution. 
Compiling galeon goes great, and running mozilla works as well. 
 
I get the first dialog "galeon crashed, restore or discard", but no matter 
what I choose, the next dialog is "galeon has crashed".. 
 
the output I get if I start it from a shell is: 
 
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:1807: initialization assertion failed, use 
g_type_init() prior to this function 
 
Gdk-CRITICAL **: file gdkdraw.c: line 274 (gdk_drawable_unref): assertion 
`GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed 
 
Are there any dependencies that would need recompiling?

mozilla needs recompiling I believe.  The -r3 didn't seem to work well with galeon
