Pithos has an option to disable playing when the screensaver is active. This does not work with XFCE/xscreensaver.

To reproduce:
1) Start up pithos
2) Go to preferences, check 'Pause when screensaver is active'
3) enable your screensaver/lock screen. Music should pause, but it does not

FWIW, this works with the debian package versioned 0.3.17-1 and cinnamon (on Debian, of course).

The issue persists in 1.3.1
