For what it's worth, I can confirm that festival-hts-2.1 is broken currently in its current state in gentoo: it does not work with festival-2.1. I can also confirm that the patches and ebuild changes for festival and festival-hts in the gentoo-vn overlay as mentioned above fix the problem. Applying the patches as implemented in the gentoo-vn overlay could not make things any worse because they are already broken. Rather, it'd possibly fix it. :) Package(s) removed. |
festival using festival-hts voices does not work. Apparently festival-hts-2.1 is not compatable with festival-2.1 without a patch. Installed apps: app-accessibility/festival-2.1 app-accessibility/festival-hts-2.1 Configuration: File /etc/festival/siteinit.scm Settings (set! voice_default 'voice_nitech_us_bdl_arctic_hts) Error: Executing: $festival --tts Desktop/Downloads/when.the.tripods.came.txt Outputs: Error: HTS_Model_load_pdf: Failed to load header of pdfs. Solution: Both festival-hts-2.1 and festival-2.1 need to be patched. Patches have been created for festival-hts-2.1 and festival-2.1 to get festival-hts voices to work in debian. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=589614 Then someone created an overlay ebuild for this http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7313616.html http://git.overlays.gentoo.org/gitweb/?p=user/gentoo-vn.git;a=tree;f=app-accessibility;hb=HEAD
