sys-apps/coreutils-8.20 has a major bug in the -r option of the seq command.

This is fixed in 8.21

Steps to reproduce:
seq -s ';' 10

Received result:
1
2;3;4;5;6;7;8;9;10;

Excepted result:
1;2;3;4;5;6;7;8;9;10

Workaround:
su
rm /usr/bin/seq
ln -s /bin/busybox /usr/bin/seq
chmod 755 /usr/bin/seq

The error you refer to was already backported to 8.20 in January (bug #448716).
