When changing from "/usr/portage/profiles/default-x86-1.4" to "/usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2004.0" I get the following change.
emerge -p depclean gives a log of packages to be removed while in the old situation it did say there was nothing to remove.
emerge -uDvp doesn't make a difference.

I think this is not portage problem..
