If you don't necessarily need 3.9 features, you could try the stabilized 3.8.13. Also note that "Getting VBE info block failed" is a quite common error you can google solutions for; for instance, verify you have: # grep INITRAMFS_SOURCE /usr/src/linux/.config CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE="/usr/share/v86d/initramfs" # grep FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE /usr/src/linux/.config CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE=y # ls -l /sbin/v86d -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 107128 Nov 7 16:36 /sbin/v86d You may need to re-emerge the relevant packages against the new kernel; just to be safe, you should probably follow the wiki steps again: http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Uvesafb Please let us know whether any of this resolved this, thank you in advance. I could have started uvesafb by using kernel-3.8.13. Thank you. |
