I recently enabled nvidia optimus (nvidia-drivers-319.17), which uses some quirky new xrandr functionality. This seems to cause some trouble for gnome-settings-daemon, making it fail like this:

When I simply remove /usr/lib64/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/libxrandr.so, gnome-settings-daemon works. I'm using KDE, so I just want gnome-settings-daemon to care about the looks of GTK apps and nothing else. Not sure what to do with gnome users though. Also, a quick google shows no sign of any upstream activity on this issue, but I wanted it documented for gentoo at least ;-)

I just cleaned all gnome stuff from my system, so I can't test this any more, and I'm also not bothered by it any more ;-)
