the thing is: unscd needs glibc with the nscd flag enabled, but the ebuild does not check for it. if you've built glibc with USE=-nscd, then using unscd makes absolutely no sense. the USE flag isn't for disabling just the daemon, it disables everything. so if you run unscd, the glibc libs won't be making any calls to it. should be all set now in the tree; thanks for the report!
