Description Taras Ciuriak 2004-04-06 04:44:50 UTC
Freshly emerged system (bootstrapped from stage1), with emerged gnome. Applications that use GTK+ toolkit have blank tabs where they use tabbed dialogs (think xmms "Preferences", gimp "Layers, Channels & Paths" or gcombust's entire application main window).
Comment 1 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-06 10:35:34 UTC
interestin... do other things show like normal ?
Comment 2 Taras Ciuriak 2004-04-06 14:00:44 UTC
Yes...everything else works fine...just "tabbed" elements of dialogs.
Comment 3 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-06 14:43:46 UTC
your 'emerge info' ? this is always needed in bugreports and is also noted in the bugform

have you tried the obvious things like recompiling gtk+ etc. ? are there any error messages ?
Comment 4 Taras Ciuriak 2004-04-06 15:07:00 UTC
Yes, re-emerged gtk+, gnome...heck, even opengl...all sorts...no error messages, nothing. When I run the application from the command line, there are no error messages generated when those dialogs are brought up. It's supremely weird. If you have any specific tests in mind, let me know!

Comment 6 Francois Fernandes 2004-04-15 01:42:57 UTC
I'VE FOUND THE PROBLEM!

It seems that the gcc has a bug with the -march=pentium4 flag. I tried to recompile it with each flag and it seems that it doesn't work with the pentium4 optimization.
Comment 7 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-15 03:00:33 UTC
well, maybe its a conflict between the flags, not really our bug atm.
Comment 8 Sebastian 2004-05-02 05:56:09 UTC
Hi,

I got the same problems. GTK1 apps only show blank fields in property dialogs. And I don't have a pentium 4. I got a Pentium Mobile (Centrino).
