Description Dennis Schridde 2013-04-12 10:36:36 UTC
net-p2p/freenet-0.7.5_p1440 does not work with dev-java/icedtea on ia64. Hence it would be nice if it could advise (in pkg_postinst) people to use dev-java/sun-jdk instead.

Reproducible: Always

It should work with icedtea and as long as oracle has no java 7 nor regular security releases for ia64 I don't think we should recommend sun-jdk in other ebuilds. In fact, 1.6.0.45 might have been the last release.

What is the issue you have with icedtea (versions/configuration)?

icedtea-7.2.3.8 on ia64 with freenet-0.7.5_p1440: Freenet does not announce (let alone connect) to the network. I do not know whether this is because of a bug in Icedtea, or because Zero (the only available VM for ia64 to my knowledge) is just way too slow (and hence other nodes of the network timeout me), but currently it cannot be used for Freenet.

Please dont use the java component for a application specific issue you have, since that will assign the bug to the java team instead of me (the maintainer).

For your report: freenet is not keyworded for ia64 and has not been tested there, so i will close this bug as invalid.

When you find a java upstream with proper and continuous ia64 support, feel free to test it and open a keywording bug for freenet afterwards.
