Description Raphaël Droz 2013-04-12 09:14:40 UTC
The last version of shotwell free of the media-libs/gstreamer is now gone from the tree.

It's annoying that an image manager (or even a "media" manager) enforces a dependency
upon video or sound software.

People may perfectly want to use shotwell with images alone;
without wanting to install 3 new gstreamer packages.

It's all about choice, there you be a useflag for this.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
$ emerge -vp =media-gfx/shotwell-0.13.1-r2

Actual Results:
The packages that would be merged:
(NS) media-libs/gstreamer
(NS) media-libs/gst-plugins-base
(N) media-libs/gst-plugins-good

Lots of gstreamer plugins provide support for image rendering and have nothing to do with sound rendering.
