During installation of gnome 2.6 (gnome-2.6-rc5.ebuild)  gst-plugins 0.8 does not compile esd plugin while esd is in the USE flags.

have you read the note on the end? Most plugins aren't built trough the gst-plugins package or even depended on, if they should be is still a point of debate.
