don't know if this is the cause: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462208 I changed the ebuild line to: WX_GTK_VER="2.9" The memory leak does not appear if amule is compiled against wxGTK-2.8.12.1. (WX_GTK_VER="2.8" in original ebuild). It seems to me amule-2.3.1 is not ready for wxGTK-2.9 . Had some assertion errors with some buttons too. I hope there will be a new release of amule soon. aMule-2.3.1 was released in november 2011. I don't understand how this is a bug. a) the amule ebuild depends on WX_GTK_VER="2.8" b) the wxGTK-2.9 series was never meant to be "stable"... 3.0 is stable c) upstream is supposed to migrate to 3.0, not we (In reply to Julian Ospald (hasufell) from comment #3) > I don't understand how this is a bug. > > a) the amule ebuild depends on WX_GTK_VER="2.8" > b) the wxGTK-2.9 series was never meant to be "stable"... 3.0 is stable > c) upstream is supposed to migrate to 3.0, not we Thank you for taking time for this bug. I didn't know about wxGTK-2.9 never going "stable". I thought it would be good to report this memory leak if someone tries it like me. Because of that I'd like to let this open as a reminder until there is a new amule version with wxGTK-3 support. I see on http://repo.or.cz/w/amule.git/log there is something going on. So don't worry about this bug. This is a known problem, Debian was unable to make it work with wxGTK:3.0 and this is the only package not compatible with wxGTK:3.0 for them :| https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=751241 Created attachment 415436 [details]

amule-2.3.1-wx3.0.patch
PLD Linux has this patches: https://github.com/pld-linux/aMule I have attached them and an ebuild... it would be nice if you could test them. They make it compile and amule looks to run... but I don't know much more about amule as I am not using it for years, if you could try, that would be nice :) [master 17bf77f] net-p2p/amule: Support wxGTK:3.0 (#465084) 3 files changed, 167 insertions(+) create mode 100644 net-p2p/amule/amule-2.3.1-r1.ebuild create mode 100644 net-p2p/amule/files/amule-2.3.1-build.patch create mode 100644 net-p2p/amule/files/amule-2.3.1-wx3.0.patch After installing wxGTK 3.0 on my system, I unable to compile amule 2.3.1-r1 because of the following compilation problem: Compiling ED2KLinkParser.cpp Compiling MagnetURI.cpp Compiling MuleCollection.cpp Linking ed2k Compiling amuled.cpp In file included from /usr/include/wx-3.0/wx/apptrait.h:176:0, from amule.h:473, from amuled.cpp:26: /usr/include/wx-3.0/wx/unix/apptbase.h:15:27: fatal error: wx/evtloopsrc.h: No such file or directory #include "wx/evtloopsrc.h" ^ compilation terminated. I guess it's because of the incompatibility with wxGTK > 2.8. Could you confirm? (In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #9) > PLD Linux has this patches: > https://github.com/pld-linux/aMule There is a proper upstream patch: https://github.com/amule-project/amule/commit/37a3c5dab4343ce2902c1104cedbfef6a05b0bec (In reply to Alexander Tsoy from comment #12) Err.. Looks like it is not applicable for the old 2.3.1 |
