If you attempt to mount an extended partition in any way, mount will hang consuming 100% of a single core.

The process cannot be killed.

This breaks os-prober, cause it tries to mount extended partitions as reiserfs. This breaks grub-2.

Before more of grub2 users complaint, please mask this.

http://bugs.debian.org/685143 points to http://bugs.debian.org/684293 which says it's a bug in the kernel, not in util-linux.

As you may have noticed, I'm running 3.4, but the patch appears to have merged around that time (i.e. I'm not sure).

Also downgrading to 2.21.2 solves the problem somehow, that's why I reported the bug in the first place.

What do you suggest?

With 3.8.5 kernel, and latest stable util-linux, this bug no longer persists.
