Description Mike Lothian 2013-03-14 00:52:06 UTC
The has been a long running bug in kwin that manifested itself with tearing

The fix has now been produced and will be included in KDE 4.11

The patch https://projects.kde.org/projects/kde/kde-workspace/repository/revisions/6072b4feb8c90024aa24b2e9cb8a21ab2140412c/diff.diff applys cleanly to 4.10.1-r1 and fixes the issue for me

How would you feel about including this fix in the 4.10 series?
Comment 1 Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2013-03-14 07:18:35 UTC
I am not sure if this is a good idea since there is upstream discussion about specifically avoiding KDE/4.10 branch due to the invasive nature of the patch and potential for regressions.
Comment 2 Mike Lothian 2013-03-14 18:58:24 UTC
Well I'm quite happy patching it myself I just wanted to make sure you guys knew about the issue and highlight it to others that might want to apply the patch too

I'll attach me ebuild and the patch directly to the bug in case folk want to add it to their own overlays

Kwin ebuild - kwin-4.10.10-r50.ebuild

Bumped to r50 as to not interfere with and bumps in portage

We decided in the gentoo kde team meeting to not backport this patch, because of the reasons by Michael. The bug will be closed when 4.11 hits the tree.

As a side note for all users that are affected by this bug you can always apply the attached patch of your own. [1]

Thanks, 4.11 is now in the tree.
