According to project's official wiki: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/remmina/index.php?title=Main_Page#SSH The main purpose of SSH in Remmina is for secure tunneling of all the other protocols. Because it works as a base of other protocols, it was built into the Remmina main program rather than a plugin. Remmina also provides SSH Shell and SFTP feature. Remmina uses libssh to implement SSH protocol, and libssh + libvte to implement SSH shell terminal. I use remmina only as ssh-client (i.e ssh-terminal), so can't say anything about operability of other protocols with disabled ssh support (default state of ssh USE). I think this is operating properly. The Remmina UI will not allow you to create an SSH terminal session without USE="ssh vte". Without vte, you can still create/open SFTP sessions. I have updated the use flag descriptions to better indicate the relationship between these two flags. |
