Summary: sym53c8xx hangs during bootup on 2.6.3 if no disk in m.o. drive

Description marat 2004-03-29 10:19:59 UTC
I have a Fujitsu m2511a m.o. drive.

If I boot linux-2.6.3-gentoo-r1
with no disk in the m2511a drive,
the boot process hangs after it loads
the sym53c8xx module.

Apparently, it is waiting for a disk
to be inserted because the boot process
resumes after I insert a disk.

If I boot vanilla-2.4.25 kernel with no disk in the drive,
the bootup completes without interruption.

My /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.4
and /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6
say this:
--------- quote --------
apm
es1371
ppp_async
svgalib_helper
sym53c8xx
vfat
--------unquote --------

Could you please try upgrading to gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.5 and see if the problem persists?
Comment 2 Jason Cox (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-02 18:02:54 UTC
This has gone long enough with no reply. Marking CANTFIX becuase of that.
