Bug 46085

Summary: nvidia-kernel-4496 has invalid sleep context calls
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Burhan Khalid <burhan.khalid>

Status: RESOLVED NEEDINFO
Severity: normal

Attachments: dmesg output

Description Burhan Khalid 2004-03-29 02:05:35 UTC
dmesg does not give expected output. Most errors are related to the nvidia kernel from my cursory glances. Here is a sample error message :

alloc_one+0x1b/0x53
 [<c01435f2>] pte_alloc_map+0x41/0xcf
 [<c0144644>] remap_page_range+0xcf/0x1ea
 [<e1be2719>] KernMapAGPPages+0x48/0x87 [nvidia]
 [<e1be0326>] nv_kern_mmap+0x1eb/0x357 [nvidia]
 [<c0147138>] get_unmapped_area+0x8a/0x127
 [<c0146d23>] do_mmap_pgoff+0x324/0x6af
 [<c0110ee4>] sys_mmap2+0x9e/0xd3
 [<c010b277>] syscall_call+0x7/0xb

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge nivdia modules (kernel, glx, etc.)
2. dmesg > out.txt
3. nano out.txt

Actual Results:
Error messages instead of proper dmesg output.

Expected Results:
output system information

Intel motherboard, Nvidia GeForce 440 MX (8x card, but running in 4x mode), P4
2.66, 512 RAM, regular IDE hard disk, one cdrom.

dmesg output

This is the actual output from dmesg that I get.
Comment 2 Andrew Bevitt 2004-05-10 20:50:44 UTC
Please test nvidia-kernel-5336-r3 (preferably with 2.6.6 kernel, but not essential) and report back please.
Comment 3 Andrew Bevitt 2004-05-21 08:49:06 UTC
This looks like api breakage in the older versions...
Check the newer versions please.
Comment 4 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-15 14:54:45 UTC
No response. Please try latest version (5336-r4), and if still issues,
reopen.
Comment 5 Burhan Khalid 2004-06-20 00:35:52 UTC
I'm sorry but I am unable to verify the new bugfix at this time. The setup that I was using to test is temporarily unavailable.
