libsdl:2 is not even available as normal ebuild in main tree. You can use gamerlay or steam-overlay to get this package, see bug #446682 and https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442176#c198 (In reply to comment #1) > libsdl:2 is not even available as normal ebuild in main tree. You can use > gamerlay or steam-overlay to get this package, see bug #446682 and > https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=442176#c198 Thats not really the point since I can just go: STEAM_RUNTIME=1 steam to carry on using steam using the steam shipped libs. The request of this bug was for a bump, if that means hte main tree needs a bump as well then so be it, but the request has been made. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 446682 *** If you want broken and unfinished libs either use arch-linux or obscure overlays. If not, then wait for a version bump. SDL-2 is _not_ released yet. And it's not our problem if projects use unreleased libraries which is terribly wrong. http://www.libsdl.org/ SDL 2.0 is now in Release Candidate status! find /usr/portage/ -name "*.ebuild" | grep [_-]rc[0-9] | grep -v metadata | wc -c 9062 just saying ... Equally as I pointed out, I have been using "STEAM_RUNTIME=1 steam" since steam for linux was released. I raised this bug to start the process as an when libsdl2 is release since getting steam into portage would be fantastic. This way people who tried to get steam working on gentoo who then ran into issues would search b.g.o and find this to see 1) it is in the bug loop 2) a work around that works REALLY well There is ZERO reason to go full retard at someone who is just trying to help the wider community of people outside of dev's ivory tower... |
