I'll just add here, for the record, that finding proper compile/link flags using pkg-config is not limited to libXft. pkg-config should be used to find *all* X.Org-provided libraries as it's the only method supported by upstream. The venerable AC_PATH_X / AC_PATH_XTRA are thus not supported by X.Org. Cheers Due to the issue count, we've decided to move the headers back. Therefore, feel free not to fix the Gentoo packages to use pkg-config. However, it is still preferable to at least file bugs to upstreams which aren't aware of the real necessity of using pkg-config here. I don't think this tracker is useful anymore. |
