Thunrerbird on 1-st start after update (with particularly broken localization)

I use Gentoo built mail-client/thunderbird on Russian localized system (LINGUAS="ru").
The issue is in that on first application start after update (when first executed installed add-ons compatibility check) I see unusually unlocalized standard folders names (Inbox, Drafts, etc), the rest interface is localized correctly (image thunderbird_1st-start.png).
The second and following starts of applications (no add-ons compatibility check performed) shows completely localized interface (image thunderbird_2nd-start.png).
Issue seen for a time (both on my current amd64 and my previous x86 systems), last time on update mail-client/thunderbird from 17.0.2 to 17.0.3.

Is it a Gentoo-specific, or an upstream bug?

Comment 2 Sergey S. Starikoff 2013-04-24 05:21:44 UTC
Update 17.0.4 to 17.0.5 reproduced issue.
Could it be Gentoo-specific, or I'm to report it upstream?
Comment 3 Jory A. Pratt gentoo-dev 2015-01-06 14:50:11 UTC
Last comment is almost 2 years old, reopen and update if you can reproduce with current esr builds.
Comment 4 Sergey S. Starikoff 2015-01-13 12:07:07 UTC
No comments means no changes.
The issue reproduces on each update.
Last time — on first start of Thindetbird 31.3.0 after update from 24.8.0.
Comment 5 Sergey S. Starikoff 2015-05-25 08:58:50 UTC
Upstream knows this issue. Adding link.
Comment 6 Sergey S. Starikoff 2015-08-18 14:28:58 UTC
First start after update to =mail-client/thunderbird-38.1.0 confirmed issue.
Comment 7 Sergey S. Starikoff 2015-09-02 07:23:59 UTC
Update to 38.2.0.
The issue seems to be fixed at least for minor updates in ESR branch.
Waiting the next update to confirm fix.
Comment 8 Sergey S. Starikoff 2015-10-28 08:14:27 UTC
In 38 ESR I had to re-create TBs profile.
After doing so, update to mail-client/thunderbird-38.3.0 showed this issue non-present.
Was it fixed in 38 ESR or it's some profile-dependent issue — I don't know.
